Apocalypto (2006)

In the turbulent times before the fall of the legendary Mayan civilization. A young father with great hopes and leader of his small village, Jaguar Paw lives an idyllic existence abruptly disrupted by a violent invasion. Captured and taken on a perilous journey through the jungle to be offered as a sacrifice to the Gods of the Mayan City, he discovers a world ruled by fear and oppression, in which a heartbreaking end inevitably awaits him. Driven by the love he has for his wife, his family and his people, he will have to face his greatest fears in a desperate attempt to return home and try to save what he holds most dear.
